What is the 'Graduated Licensing Program' or GLP?

The GLP is a relatively new system to BC drivers. Where before a new BC driver would only have to 'pass' one level of testing for knowledge and then one for practical, now there are 2 levels of testing that a driver must achieve. This program is greatly improving driving standards in BC and will continue to do so in the future. For more information on this check out ICBC's website.

What about Class 4 licensing?

Class 4 licensing is the professional upgrade from Class 5 (i.e. Chauffeur's, Taxi Drivers, etc). We provide Class 4 unrestricted training, which allows for up to 24 passengers (plus yourself). we also provide Restricted driver training which allows for up to 9 passengers.

I have a Driver's License from another country, where do I fit?

Licenses from other accepted countries (call the DSC to confirm status) are valid for Class 5 licensing restrictions. There are many variations that are constantly changing so it is a good idea to contact the DSC (Driver Service Centre) for up-to-date information.

Class 7, "Learner's" License, Class 5, Level 2; what does it all mean?

When first starting out you need to get through your "Learner's" Test, or Knowledge Test. Then once you have all of your practical skills in place you will take the Level 1 On-road Test, or Class 7.

In January 2000, ICBC started introducing the Level 2 Road Test for GLP Class 7 drivers. This Road Test is not mandatory, but in order to obtain the full privilege Class 5 drivers license, it is a must. The testing criteria will be stringent, applicants will be tested on the following global skills:

  • Observation
  • Space Margins
  • Speed Control
  • Steering
  • Communication
  • Hazard Perception
The Level 2 Road Test will be an hour in duration, with more than 50 General Driving Segments included. There will be greater emphasis on:
  • Smooth and accurate handling of the vehicle.
  • Compliance with road signs, signals and lane markings.
  • Defensive Driving. Focusing especially on observation, space and time management.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a much higher competency level, than that required for Class 7.

When are the classes?

For your convenience we have weekend and evening classes available on going. For the up to date schedule click "here". If you are one of our bright young teenagers we have special times for you. Check them out under the "High School" link in the same menu.

OK. Bottom line. What does it all cost?

Depending on the level instruction you need, we have a number of different packages to cater to you. Just click on 'Rates' in the menu at the top and all shall be revealed.

What if I don't want to take lessons anymore?

If you wish to discontinue your training, the package contract is no longer valid. The amount of hours completed in-class and in-car will be billed at regular rates plus a $50 administration fee. This total will be subtracted from the paid package fees and the remaining amount will be refunded. If more than 2.5 hours of theory has been completed we can not issue a refund.
